A Common Prayer...

I was on set yesterday with the rapper Common, he said hello and shook my hand.  It was a project he’s backing in Chicago about the violence and the young people it affects. He also motivated us by telling us how much this project means to him and to pray that it gets picked up.   I've been on a lot sets but this was the first that had a prayer before shooting, led by Common.  I'm not too familiar with his music as much as his acting. But I do know this, he believes in God like so many of us in the entertainment business do.  And some us are judged so harshly by the church and other believers.  We can be in the world (of entertainment) but not of it.  Just because we do videos, or wear certain things or say certain things, that does not mean that we don't love God as much or more than some of you who go to church every Sunday or read your Bible every day.  This is what makes us different in the business, because we believe in God we say a prayer before we start shooting, I say a prayer when I'm on the highway going to set.     I say a prayer when I get to set, because I've seen some things.  I know what I can and cannot do in my life (conviction) and only God can judge me and convict me or any other person.

You see and hear what we do, but what do you do behind closed doors that we could convict you on?
